Anger Regulation Issues
Anger is a strong feeling of displeasure or hostility, often
accompanied by an urge toward punishment or vengeance. It is a basic,
primitive emotion that affects both body and mind. For example, anger
has well-known physical symptoms such as feeling hot in the face;
an involuntary tightening of the legs, hands, or jaw; or “seeing
red.” Anger may also short-circuit our usual mental processes,
making us more likely to act on impulse.
Anger is a normal human reaction that plays a positive role in our
ability to protect ourselves and survive. However, when anger is either
overly suppressed or gets out of control, it can cause serious problems
for people and the ones they love.
