Heart Rate Variability
Assessment
Heart rate variability analysis provides an objective assessment
of the status of a person’s autonomic nervous system (ANS)
as well as information on general physical fitness.
The assessment of ANS is based on heart rate. Nerve-Express, a device
that produces a read-out of the heart rate, consists of a sensor
that is strapped on the body and transmits heart activity impulses
into a special computer program.
The assessment program recognizes 74 states of autonomic nervous system
activity. The results of the assessment are available both as an on-screen
display and as a computer printout, both of which are interpreted
by a trained technician.
The ease of use of the heart rate variability device allows for readings
to be taken and compared before and after treatments or periods of
exercise. HRV analysis gives immediate feedback on changes in ANS
functioning on resting, rising, exercising.
